Welcome to the Suminagashi Workshop Information and Registration Page
Suminagashi ("floating ink") is a traditional Japanese paper marbling technique that sings to the song of spontaneity and surprise!
In this Suminagashi Workshop you will learn:
- how to float ink on water
- how to pull a print onto paper
- which supplies to use for this Suminagashi technique
- some tricks to manipulate the ink in order to get different effects
- to expect the unexpected (oftentimes the same thing will not work twice!!)
- ways to use your printed papers in other projects
You will have the opportunity to use black ink, as well as colored inks.
We will print on a variety of papers. You will leave with a generous paper stash ready for collage art, art journaling, card making, or other book art projects you might enjoy making.
All supplies and materials are provided, as well as instruction.
