Hello Creative Being,
Today's Mark Making Monday post is inspired by an online workshop featured in 21 Secrets Color Color Color. I am a guest teacher in 21 Secrets Color Color Color, which was recently released into the world in late September. In case you don't know, 21 Secrets Color Color Color is a gorgeous e-book filled to the brim with art journaling workshops and tutorials with video instruction. As a guest teacher, you better believe I am also going to take advantage of the tremendous fun involved in participating in the other teacher's workshops in 21 Secrets Color Color Color. One such workshop is by Creative Director and Founder, Connie Solera. Connie's 21 Secrets Color Color Color workshop is called "BOLD". In it, Connie talks about her passion for using acrylic paint and oil pastels. She states that the two are like peanut butter and jelly; you can't have one without the other.
I am about half way in to Connie's "BOLD" workshop, and I am sharing my journal spread with you in this Mark Making Monday post.
Connie loves both Portfolio Water-soluble oil pastels and regular oil pastels. The journal pages below were created using inexpensive acrylic paint, and the two kinds of oil pastels listed above.
First, I put some acrylic paint down with a long handled brush.
Next, I started adding in the water-soluble oil pastels.
Then I added some regular oil pastels. Some gold nuggets began to appear.
And then back to the water-soluble oil pastels with black.
And then a regular black oil pastel.
Without putting too much thought into this art journal page spread, I feel like it has a message for me. Maybe your BOLD art journal pages will reveal some special messages to you, as well! The magic is in the making.
If you are on the fence about signing up for 21 Secrets Color Color Color, I want to highly encourage you to do so. The variety of workshops is amazing, and all of the instructors have unique perspectives on color. Plus, you get 24 workshops at about $4 each. That's an amazing bargain. Need I say more? If online classes aren't for you, that's totally cool. But if you happen to be an online class junkie like myself, this is not to be missed! (Note: by registering through the link provided in this post, Connie and I both get paid, as participating instructors). Thank you in advance for supporting artists and small businesses!
Have a beautiful day!
Blessings,
Briana
