Welcome to Freedom through Painting Friday!
Today's post has a theme of eyes.
"The soul, fortunately, has an interpreter - often an unconscious but still a faithful interpreter - in the eye." -Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
What is it about eyes that draws us in?
What do you notice about other people when you look at their eyes? How often do you look directly into someone's eyes? With all of the focus on technology in today's society, do you find it more difficult to look someone in the eye? Simply take notice of your comfort level the next time you're communicating with someone face to face. Consider journaling about if you notice any changes around eye contact.
When I started freely painting this piece, I did not know it was going to turn into an eye.
Once I got started, I could not stop painting eyes.
I went straight to another sheet of watercolor paper and made a whole page of eyes.
For me, I am curious about my intuitive choices, as I usually paint eyes green. Not today!
One fantastic thing about "freedom through painting" or painting from your intuition, is that you don't have to know or understand what comes out. The process itself is informative and is what needs to happen in that moment.
I also find it interesting that I spent several hours with an incredible local artist who has the most amazing blue eyes after I painted the eyes above. Hmmmm . . . Life and its mysterious ways.
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed."-Albert Einstein
May your eyes be open, may your heart be full, may you feel the love of life.
Blessings to you,
Briana
