Hello and Happy Day to You!
I am still deciding on how my blog posts may or may not change in 2016, but for now, I simply had to do another Mark Making Monday post! I am feeling terribly inspired by colorful ink, and I just have to share my enthusiasm with you!
Supplies I Used:
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink
If you purchase this set of 12, you are only paying about $3 per bottle, which is fantastic!
I used yellow, magenta, and blue.
Paper-Starthmore Bristol 100 lb. paper
I used a fondue stick to pull the ink around, too. Any sharp metal tool will do the trick!
I also ended up using a piece of cardboard, because there is just something so inviting to me about regular cardboard! Do you feel the same?
Let's play with India ink!
These Dr. Ph. Martin's India Ink bottles come with droppers inside, which is so convenient for playing around right away!
My suggestion is to make some drops of ink. Then tip your paper so the ink starts to move, run, and drip. (By the way, I folded my paper in half for the following reason: I am thinking about making a journal with this smooth Bristol paper, and I wanted to see which direction the grain is running.)
Grab a second color and make more drops. Experiment dropping ink from a variety of distances. The higher up you go, the more of a splash you get (typically).
Tap your paper with ink onto a page in your journal. This tapping gets that ink moving!
Add a third color of ink.
I think the journal page looks just as interesting as the paper with ink!
I was not quite ready to stop playing, so I made some inky fingerprints (above right), and used a fondue stick to pull some ink around. Sometimes I pulled the ink from the center of a dot, and sometimes I scribbled the fondue stick in every direction.
Let me tell you, that is fun to do! (Fondue--fun to do)!! : )
And my muse is still not ready to be done, so I grabbed a piece of cardboard I had nearby. I was curious to see how opaque the ink would look on such a background. I am quite pleased with the results!
To make the blue dots (below), I simply used the tip of the dropper, which is a tiny circle shape.
Thank you so much for being here. I sure do appreciate you!
Make your 2016 full of joy, creative expression, and good things!
