Welcome to Mark Making Monday. This theme is something I love exploring, as there are infinite possibilities when it comes to making marks. Mark making is also part of an artist's style, which is incredibly interesting.
Over time, you will unconsciously develop your own set of marks that you will repeat over and over in your work.
Of course, experimenting is the best, and copying other people's marks is one way to begin. Eventually, your own marks will appear, and they will please you.
Today I am sharing a peek into my art journal playtime where I am exploring a new art supply, Sennelier Pastels.
I love keeping an art journal because it is a safe space in which to explore.
First, I used up some extra tempera paint and freely painted a page spread.
Next, I used up some more extra paint and created more details on the two pages. I used one of my new favorite paint brushes by Hand Made Modern, found at Target.
Finally, I played with the Sennelier Pastels to create marks, designs, and some shading.
Will you take out your art journal this week to let yourself explore and play? Believe me, it is worth the time. Playing is good for your mind, body, spirit, and soul!
Enjoy!
Blessings,
Briana
