Hello, hello Creative Ones!
My studio, office, mind, body, heart, and soul are all a flutter as I prepare to launch the biggest, truest program I've ever created, and have been working on for years!! Literally, this has taken me nearly my entire adult life to solidify; we'll just call that twenty years of adulthood.
The Beautiful BEing Program greatly reflects the nearly three years of intense study I completed for my masters program in Human Development. My position paper is titled, "Healing is an Art and a Process." I researched emotional pain, healing versus curing, and how healing is linked to spirituality and creativity. My position statement reads like this:
Love, energy, balance, wounds, suffering, change, healing. We are all energy. We all experience the mystery of life, the positive and the negative, the in-and-out flow of energy, the yin and the yang. We get stuck in our wounds. We have difficulty understanding ourselves. We have trouble moving on, healing and living life to its fullest. We become disconnected from our wholeness of being. Our mind, body and spirit get separated. Sometimes we even lose our soul. The world is unstable. However, I believe with a greater sense of consciousness and with awareness of our own healing capabilities, we can live a healthy and remarkable life. In this paper, I will explore what defines healing, discuss the process of healing, talk about how healing is linked to spirituality and creativity, and describe how healing oneself helps to heal the world.--Briana Goetzen, Healing is an Art and a Process, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Human Development, Position Paper, December 2005
What I knew then, and what I still know, is that my mission is to inspire your inner creativity. I believe we are all creative. You believe that, too, right?
Aren't we lucky to be human and have the opportunity to invent our lives? Isn't it amazing that we can connect to universal energy to help unblock, heal, gain inner wisdom and transform ourselves? Life is such a mystery; a beautiful, complex, experience. Would you agree?
And here we are, processing all of this with our amazing minds. It is sometimes a challenge to remember to engage our whole being, which includes not only the mind, but the body, spirit, and soul, too. We are in control of how aware or unaware we are of what is going on within ourselves, in our mind, body, spirit, and soul. If something doesn't feel right, we need to evaluate what is out of balance.
Healing has to do with a sense of meaning. Healing occurs when suffering no longer causes me to feel like a victim, or contract--but brings me to a new sense of meaning about my life--why I'm alive, what it means to be alive, what it means to be a man or a woman, what I want to share with the world around me, how I want to give myself to life.--Richard Moss, MD
SNEAK PEEK!!!!
The following information will soon be shared with participants at the LIVE Beautiful BEing Program in Minneapolis, which starts tomorrow (Saturday, January 16th-YOU CAN STILL REGISTER) and with ONLINE participants next week:
What is “The Beautiful BEing Program”?
The Beautiful BEing Program comes from a belief that we are all connected, and we are all made from light and love. We are all beautiful souls on this journey called life.
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience." - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
The intention for the Beautiful BEing Program is to support your journey of self-love, discovery of Self, trusting your intuition, embracing the mystery, and your path to wholeness. Creative expression, specifically spontaneous creative expression is a path to healing and soul recovery.
Soul is . . . the essence that signals us when we are not true to ourselves or when we have forgotten life’s purpose because of trauma, emotional loss, physical illness, or unsatisfying relationships. It is equally the part of our being that helps us feel alive, reach down to the bones, and awaken ourselves to the goodness and gifts within each of us. Like James Brown, when we have a lot of soul, we have a zest for life, palpable energy, and a deep sense of well-being. –Cathy Malchiodi, The Soul’s Palette: Drawing on Art’s Transformative Powers for Healing and Well-Being
Ritual
We will be using simple rituals throughout the Beautiful Being Program. Here’s why:
Rituals help you to accept changes in your life, and they also help you to feel more connected to yourself, others, and the universe.
The Creative Acts of Writing + Painting
Through process-oriented writing + spontaneous painting, you will tap into your inner resources. You will be asked to express yourself in a way that goes beyond conscious thought, and beyond the limits of ego.
Support for the Journey
With my heart, I wish to lovingly assist you in guiding yourself to your inner wisdom, truth, and intuition. I will provide prompts and questions to help you unblock, move your energy, and hear what wants to come through.
This is NOT therapy. If you experience issues that you are unable to work through on your own, it is your responsibility to seek the help of a professional counselor or therapist.
ANOTHER SNEAK PEEK:
Writing Practice
“ . . . along with sleep, writing can be the greatest pleasure.”-Natalie Goldberg, The True Secret of Writing
“Rules for Writing Practice:
- Keep your hand moving. Not frantically, clutching the pen. But don’t stop.
- Feel free to write the worst junk in America. We are looking for a way to meet and accept our whole mind.
- Be specific. Not car, but Cadillac. Always have a tremendous kindness for yourself. You’ll get a lot more writing done.
- Lose control. Say what you want to say, not what you think you should say.
Practice is the practice of being here with your life and pen now. Go across the page-what are you thinking of? Put your life on the line.” –Natalie Goldberg, The True Secret of Writing
“Underneath everything we long to know ourselves.”—Natalie Goldberg
The Painting Process
You’re invited to experience a unique and powerful form of creative expression called Process Painting, also known as Intuitive Painting, or Spontaneous Expression.
Process Painting helps you get at the under layers of who you truly are and what you might need to heal. The process of painting is the experience, not what gets painted on the paper. Process Painting activates your intuition and takes you beyond the normal realm for understanding your life. You will be using the brush and the paint to move what’s already inside of you. You will be expressing your truths and honoring your inner wisdom by opening yourself up to the mystery. Imagery is the language of the soul, and believe it or not, you can paint anything. A-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. Let your brush lead you, moment by moment to the next thing.
If you enjoyed this post, felt a stirring of your heart or soul, I invite you to join the Beautiful BEing Program. It is happening locally in Minneapolis, Minnesota AND ONLINE.
