Yesterday was the monthly Visual Journal Collective meeting at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. I don't often get to MCBA in time to visit The Shop, but yesterday, I had about ten minutes to look around and gather some inspiration. If you are like me, you love cards, paper, pens, fonts, blank journals, books, zines, art supplies, artist's books and unique items made by artists. The MCBA Shop has it all, including a fantastic children's section (not shown) of books and supplies.
Here are some pictures I snapped inside The Shop, and in the gallery. There was recently a fund raising event for MCBA and some of the work for sale was still on display. As of yesterday (Monday, July 21st) the art was 50% off. So, if you would like a wonderful piece of art that helps support a great facility, head on down to MCBA today!
I was swooning over these typewriter cards online, then I got to see the set in person. They are great!
MCBA has the best blank greeting cards, too! Their selection of cards is even better than the gift shop at an art museum. I think this because there are so many cards created by indepedent artists and small businesses.
I loved this array of books on creativity and writing.
The Bookish Bash art for sale in the gallery looks like this:
Open Book, which houses The Loft and MCBA, is such an amazing space. It is one of my favorite places to go, and I feel so lucky to have these facilities in Minneapolis.
I hope I was able to give you a peek into the wonder of MCBA. If you felt inspired, what did it for you? I would love to hear in the comments below.
I did not take a lot of photos from our Visual Journal Collective meeting, but I will post about the meeting soon.
For now, have a wonderful day.
Happy Creating!
